"Obliterate then Automate"

We've all heard the phrase GIGO (Garbage in Garbage out) applied to computers. Since the 70's, I've been applying "Obliterate then Automate" methodologies developed out of economic necessity----3-M Medical, CITI Credit Card processing, Gateway Computer (Development, Sales, Manufacturing, Servicing)and most recently guiding a team of very smart women supervisors who are leading their teams to performance/responsiveness metric improvements of 580-1100% in less that 60 working days by aligning existing technologies...all within a demanding state government Unemployment Insurance Contact Center!
Peter Drucker taught us that "Efficiency=doing things right"; but true "Effectiveness=DOING THE RIGHT THINGS RIGHT"!
In my simple little Pig Farmer (lazy) mind, that has always translated into "Obliterating" all wasted motions involved & "Aligning" all existing technologies to optimize the resulting streamlined processes; before jumping into implementing the latest technological advancements with disappointing ROI.
This approach enables your entire team to truly learn the controllables within your business processes; and define a much better set of User Requirements & Justfication for the amazing capabilities that "Leveraging Cloud Computing" is bringing forth today, tomorrow.

The "Virtual" become real and exceeds all expectations!

My sister and more recently myself have been "virtually connecting" with this amazingly prolific and thought-providing blogster----GUY!
Today, I had the good fortune to sit down and have a cup of coffee (me consuming such only; as he does not have such addictions, I discovered)with this amazing man.
We both knew we were on the same page; when he mentioned one of my most favorite books about efficiency---"The Goal" by Goldratt!
He, too is recognizing that Cloud Computing is truly a Business Strategy, as my good friend, Bob Hasslinger puts it----and the "Clouds" are going, just awaiting our Sowing & Reaping (aka HARVESTING).
.....
We both reflected upon the fact that we are just tiptoeing into the makings of a "perfect storm" for revitalizing our competitiveness---
* Thanks to having rapidly growing Cloud Computing capabilities to harvest
* Knowledgeable Babyboomers who play well with the 20-somethings
* Both worker sets looking for work & willing to do so @ reduced labor costs
* Cost of money rates that are nearly the lowest ever recorded in the U.S.
* Investors that are very liquid w/lack of faith in Washington or Wall Street
* Lowest costs for Total LifeCycles of consumer goods that cannot be matched
Obviously, our conversations will be continuing; and he will be meeting some folks that I know who have ample funds; and truly are motivated to create wealth-generating legacies for our kids, grandkids and great grandkids---in spite of Washington.

Clouds 2 Rescue or Vice Versa

Us "handson" process guys that have ridden cow-spotted boxes (Gateway days)throughout entire Product+Service Lifecycle are even more valuable as "CloudHarvestors" Partner (past state CIO) just completed such ride using CISCO-led UCS data center consolidation into 6, soon 8 blade server config.
